The Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown Respect Life Committee exists to uphold the dignity of human life from conception to natural death and to serve as a trusted source of guidance, resources, and leadership for pro-life ministry throughout the diocese.

We focus on services that promote, support, and educate the faithful on the Church’s teaching on life issues while providing practical support and prayer.

Pregnancy & Family Support

From our Gabriel Projects to our coordinated relationship with the 12 pregnancy resource centers across the diocese through our Pregnancy Resource Subcommittee, we provide support beyond the means of the Respect Life Committee, including counseling for women and men, ultrasounds, post-abortive counseling, and more.

We have 20 active pro-life prayer groups bringing together individuals across the community to pray for the protection and dignity of every human life.

Parishes Supporting Gabriel Projects

Throughout the diocese, we have planted numerous Gabriel Projects supported by a number of parishes. The Altoona Gabriel Project alone serves 91 clients with the help of 29 volunteers across a central warehouse and three distribution sites, supported by 14 parishes.
